I am Pavel Kadlec, the founder and editor of WithoutCensorship, an independent English-language site about censorship, algorithms and platform power. By training I am a social worker and I hold a doctorate (PhDr.) in the field.
One question drives everything published here: who decides what you get to see and say online? Laws, algorithms and moderation systems answer it for us every day, usually out of sight. This site exists to make those decisions visible. Plain language, primary sources, written for the people affected by them. That focus comes straight from social work: you start with the people a system touches, not with the system.
What I make
Our own reporting comes first: the Who Decides? explainer series, the EU Chat Control Tracker (a continuously updated record of what applies right now) and a plain-language glossary. Alongside that, WithoutCensorship republishes selected work by the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Global Voices and EDRi under their open licences. Republished pieces are always clearly marked and never altered.
How I work
Openly. The site has a public editorial policy and a page explaining how it is funded. I use AI tools for research, drafting and editing; every published word is reviewed and approved by me, and the responsibility for it is mine. Corrections are welcome and taken seriously. They make the work better.
