The short version
There are no affiliate links on this site. No commissions, no advertising, no sponsored articles, no paid reviews, and no free hardware in exchange for coverage.
Why this page exists at all
The link to it has been sitting in the footer since an earlier idea of what this site might become. That idea never happened, and a missing page is worse than a plain statement, so here is the statement. If you came looking for the small print about who pays us, this is it: nobody does.
What our links are for
Links inside our articles point to court filings, regulator decisions, research papers, original reporting and the tools a guide happens to be about. They are the evidence for what we wrote, and you should be able to check us. Nobody pays for a mention or for a position in a list, and we earn nothing if you click, sign up or buy. When a guide names a browser, a messaging app or a VPN, it is because it belongs in the story — and when a well-known product has a real problem, we write that as well.
How the site is paid for
It is not. WithoutCensorship.com has never been commercially funded. There are no sponsors, no grants, no investors, no advertising, no paywall and no subscriptions. Hosting and software are paid for by the editor. That is also the honest reason the site is small and the guides arrive one at a time rather than ten at once.
Submissions and guest articles
Readers can send us material and we publish some of it. What we do not do is sell space. An article that arrives with money attached, or with a request to link to a particular product, is not published — the money is the reason, not a bonus.
If this ever changes
If the site ever takes money from anyone — readers, a foundation, an institution — this page will say so, with the date it started. Anything that was paid for in any way would carry a label at the top of the article itself, not a footnote at the bottom. Until you read otherwise here, the answer is still nobody.
